I specialize in helping students ages 11-25; covering middle school, high school and college. I have specific training to work with students; not to mention life experience. I use coaching skills (as in life coaching) in combination with other organizational skills and productivity skills. Coaching allows me to build a partnership with students. In a coaching relationship, there is built-in accountability to the coach from the student but coaching relationship also allows the student to take the reins to guide the journey with support. Students are amazing when you listen to them. While on this journey with them, we work on how to organize, how to maintain organization, how to plan/prioritize, how to use a schedule, how to develop good habits and much more. We develop systems and strategies that work for him/her. There is no one or right way to organize; I help students for the right way for them.
For adults, I work with adults who have chronic disorganization (CD). CD is marked by having tried to get organized and failing (usually repeatedly), having been disorganized over a long period of time not caused by a life transition and it impedes in your life. In these cases, I use coaching as well which is a huge benefit in the client being able to take control of his/her life. I make the process as gentle, positive and calm as I can by focusing on what is working in the client's life and expanding on it.
Developing new habits, or getting used to new systems takes some time actually 4-6 months for many people. Back sliding is normal; everyone does it. For those who are more at risk for back sliding further than they are comfortable with, I can provide monthly, bi-monthly or as needed maintenance sessions.
